Author´s copyright

The author is the natural person that creates a literary, artistic or scientific work. A copyright protects any original literary, artistic or scientific creations expressed by any means or on any support currently known or future, tangible or intangible. The intellectual property of a literary, artistic or scientific work belongs to the author for the fact that he or she has created it.

A copyright is the legal protection granted to the holder of the title who is the author of the original work. A copyright includes two main categories of rights: proprietary and moral rights.

The types of work covered by a copyright include: literary works such as novels, poems, plays, reference documents, journals and software programmes; data bases; films; musical works and choreographies; works of art such as paintings, drawings, photographies and sculptures; architectural works; advertisements, maps and technical drawings.
